Dental Care for Persons with Disabilities - Low-income and young adults in Iowa through age 21 with special health care needs are eligible to be served by this program, which pays for limited dental care. This program is jointly sponsored by the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and the Iowa Department of Public Health. Services are provided at the Center for Disabilities and Development and the University of Iowa pediatric dental clinic, as well as at sites in 27 dental offices in Iowa.  Call (515) 281-3733 for more information.

Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (hawk-i) - A program that provides free or low-cost healthcare coverage for Iowa children up to age 19.  Services include medical and hospital care, home health, equipment, prescriptions, dental, vision, and more.  Call 1-800-257-8563 for more information.

Iowa Care For Yourself - This is a breast/cervical cancer early detection program for low-income and other eligible Iowa women.

Maternal Care Program - Pays for maternal care for pregnant women who meet certain criteria. The Maternal Health Services' maternal health clinics available in all 99 counties provide prenatal and postpartum care to Medicaid eligible and other low income women. Services include medical and dental assessment, health and nutrition education, psychosocial screening and referral, care coordination, assistance with plans for delivery and postpartum home visiting.

Medicaid - Medicaid is a program that pays for covered medical and health care costs of people who qualify. The Medicaid program is funded by federal and state governments and is managed by the Iowa Department of Human Services.

DHS Health & Financial Support -  Iowa Dept. of Human Services offers Food Assistance, Family Investment Support, Well Child and Prenatal Care, Child Care Assistance, Home and Community Based Waivers, and Medicaid programs.

Child Care Assistance (DHS) - Financial assistance may also be available for a limited period of time to the children of a parent looking for employment or when the parent who normally cares for the child is unable to do so due to hospitalization, or outpatient treatment for physical or mental illness.  Contact Child Care Resource & Referral additionally about the Crisis Child Care program.

WIC - Women, Infants, and Children - WIC is a public health program that serves pregnant and postpartum women, and children under the age of 5. WIC provides nutritious foods, nutrition education, and referrals to other health-care agencies. Eligibility is based on income, Iowa residence, and a medical or dietary need. Participants receive checks for specific nutritious foods redeemable at over 700 grocery stores and pharmacies across Iowa.

Partnership for Prescription Assistance - The Partnership for Prescription Assistance  helps qualifying patients who lack prescription coverage get the medicines they need through the public or private program that’s right for them. Many will get them free or nearly free. Its mission is to increase awareness of patient assistance programs and boost enrollment of those who are eligible. Through this site, the Partnership for Prescription Assistance offers a single point of access to more than 475 public and private patient assistance programs, including more than 180 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies. LymeAid 4 Kids -   The fund provides monies for families who have no health coverage for their children, so they cannot get diagnosed or treated for Lyme disease.  Up to $1,000 per child will be available to be applied for through the physician.  888-366-6611

Air Care Alliance - Nationwide listing of charitable aviators that fly patients and their families for medical care

Assistance for any patient needing to travel to a distant specialized medical facility for evaluation, diagnosis or treatment.  Patients served are people for whom the cost of long-distance travel for medical care is difficult financially.
